Addis Ababa, September 27 (WIC) - Professor Tirussew Teferra, Dean of the Addis Ababa University College of Education, has won one of the most prestigious international awards, the Jan Amos Comenius Medal Award.

Professor Tirussew was selected for the award by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for his outstanding achievements and innovation in the fields of teaching and educational research.

Mekelle, September 27 (WIC) - Activities that help alleviate the potable water shortage of Mekelle town of Tigray state have been launched with 100 million Birr this budget year, the town water and sewerage service office said.

The sinking of additional 12 deep water wells is underway to increase the water generation capacity of the town from the current 13,300 cubic meters, Office Head Gidena Abebe told WIC.
